Do you need to pump your septic tank?

Yes, there's no such thing as a system that does not need maintenance / pumped... no matter what anyone may tell you. Every system may be slightly different, but it will still need to be maintained.

How does a septic system work?

On most septic systems there are three layers; crust (on top), water (in the middle), and sludge (on bottom). There are bacteria in the septic tank that will eat at the crust until it forms waste and sinks to the bottom to form the sludge. As long as there are baffles in place and functioning, the water is all that should flow to the soil treatment area. (Add a picture diagram)
